Op-ed: Don’t underestimate the threat of Mike Bloomberg

I am a Trump supporter. I voted for Trump, and I will vote for him again. Like you, I have laughed at the thought of Mike Bloomberg getting into the race. It has got to be a joke right? He is the anti-Trump. Trump is bold and abrasive, with the rough New York attitude. Bloomberg is also a billionaire but comes off as though he’s one from San Francisco and shops at whole foods. President Trump is conservative, whereas Bloomberg is very liberal.

And whereas President Trump spends little, Bloomberg spends a lot.

But Bloomberg could well be the Democrat’s unknown secret weapon. He has tons of money (he told the press he’s willing to spend a billion dollars to defeat Trump). He has name recognition. And he has no bad personal issues he can be attacked for. He is a threat.

Fortunately thus far, his campaign has been off to a terrible start. He is making no ground. His kickoff rally had 40 people. The rally picture as a cover photo on his website is alleged to have been staged. And while spending a quarter billion thus far, he has yet to poll above 6%. But for him it’s a game of attrition. Slowly buy up democratic voters one by one, as the weaker candidates go bankrupt and fall out of the race. It’s a game he knows how to play, and we should be aware of the threat.
