Congressman Justin Amash has been outfoxed. That’s how it looks anyway when you go to justinamashforpresident.com and are redirected. The website justinamashforpresident.com now takes users to President Donald Trump’s official website, donaldjtrump.com. It’s a huge embarrassment for the representative from Michigan who has spent the last few years ferociously criticizing President Trump. He has been so vocally against President Trump, he recently left the Republican party to become an independent.

Amash has represented Michigan’s 3rd congressional district since 2011 as a liberty republican. Along with Reps Massie and Rand Paul, he made up the famed Republican Liberty Caucus.
He was also relatively young when he was elected, just over 30 years old. He comes from a Syrian and Palestinian background, his father being a palestinian christian and his mother a syrian christian. His parents met in Damascus. He married his high school sweetheart and together they have 3 children. After winning his race for congress, he has managed to maintain his seat even during democratic waves throughout the state.
While Amash has generally garnered respect from Republicans even when he didn’t always stay within ranks for voting, being more of a maverick, his anti Trump position has cost him dearly in his district. It is presumed that he will not survive a reelection bid.
In July 2019, he made his switch from the GOP to Independent. This was after he came out in support of impeachment for President Trump.
