Refugee Arrested For Lighting 15th Century French Cathedral On Fire

A refugee has been arrested for lighting a 15th century french cathedral on fire in France this week.

The Nantes Cathedral is famous for it’s Great Organ, a massive musical organ that was hundreds of years old. That is until the refugee lit it on fire, burning the historical piece of art to ashes. Fire destroyed glass in the cathedral and two towers, as 3 fires in total were started.

An African refugee has been arrested and is being held in suspicion of starting the blaze.

Worshipers considered the Great Organ the “soul of the Cathedral.” The organ had previously survived a fire from 1972.

“It is a part of our history, a part of our heritage” Nantes Mayor Johanna Rolland told reporters. “We all have these images in mind, this story in our hearts, but at this stage, the situation does not seem to be comparable to that of 1972.”

A year ago, Notre Dame Cathedral caught on fire and much of it burned completely. Despite video of refugees laughing and smiling outside the blaze, police ruled that the Notre Dame fire was not arson.
