Bill Cries In new Hillary DocuSeries When Talking About Monica Lewinsky.

Bill Clinton broke down in tears when discussing Monica Lewinsky and how much he hurt Hillary. This was in the new 4 part docuseries titled “Hillary” that aired on Hulu. The Clintons opened up about the scandal very candidly for the cameras.

The docuseries mainly dives into the 2016 Hillary campaign. What went wrong, what went right, what was unfair, what she could have done better. Hillary for her part does little to take any fault for losing. Instead, she shifts blame to everyone else. She said that “nobody likes” Bernie Sanders, that his supporters were rabid, that she did everything right and nothing she could do was good enough for voters.

Bill first told her on the night of January 9th, 1998, that the story of the affair was going to come out in the newspapers, but that none of it was true. It was all a lie, and Hillary said she believed him. Bill’s story that she had taken mere flirting and wanted to use it to gain fame and notoriety.

When the truth began coming out that Bill had lied to her, to the public, and to the Senate about the affair, he came clean. “I was just devastated,” she says. “I could not believe it. I was so personally just hurt.”

Bill was asked by the producers why he did it. Why the President of the United States would take such a pathetic risk at throwing away everything.

“Nobody thinks about that,” he says. “Nobody thinks about why did I take that risk. That’s not why people do stupid things. That’s not what happened. Nobody sits down and thinks I think I’ll take a really irresponsible risk that’s bad for my family, bad for my country, bad for the people that work with me.”

 “Here’s someone who’s going to take your mind off it for a while. That’s what happened… It’s not a defense. It’s an explanation. I feel awful. I feel terrible about it.” 

“I want to say one thing to the American people… I did not have sexual relations with that woman, Miss Lewinsky”. Bill’s words become famous in American political history.

“That wasn’t anything other than her trying to keep us together. And when she did that, oh my gosh, I thought that’s just so incredible.” After a pause to clear the lump in the throat, she continues: “So strong and so wise.”

As for impeachment, “I defended and stood by him because I thought the impeachment process was wrong,” Hillary explains. “But that wasn’t the necessary answer to what I would do with my marriage. It was not to me the same thing. I still had to decide whether I wanted to stay in the marriage, whether I thought it was worth saving. We saw a counselor. Painful, painful discussions.”

“I feel terrible about the fact that Monica Lewinsky’s life was defined by it, unfairly I think,” Bill says. “Over the years I watched her trying to get a normal life back again. But you gotta decide how to define normal.”

Bill also calls the therapy sessions with his family some of the hardest moments of his life. Throughout the interview, he is emotional and teary eyed.
